Undead Rising

Growth gone wild

An invitation to a select gathering of the True Fae, and Thief is invited! It’s probably a trap. Meanwhile, the spirits whisper to Yitcech that something is terribly wrong… there’s too much… but what does that mean?

Into the Feywild

Thief approaches each member of the party individually, beginning with Trius. He explains that he has received this invitation to a party. Well, really more of a glory-hogging session. See, when the True Fae meet, it’s a time to sit down, relax, and have your underlings promote your amazing talents to the other True Fae. So he needs underlings. In name only, of course.

The team agrees and they set forth into the Feywild. Yitcech, ever in communication with spirits, is told that something is wrong. “Too much,” the spirits tell him. “There’s too many, too much.” They aren’t able to give him a more coherent answer than that. Even so, something is wrong that needs to be fixed.

Thief, not being the sort to have a stable home address, went to the Myconid people in the deep woods to request their assistance in creating a temporary home. Lorne was incredibly disturbed by this, and chose not to enter the spongy, mushroomy “home” that was built, instead standing sentinel with Trius.

As the others slept, Trius noticed a creature stealing into the home, and silently followed it to the window. It sat on the windowsill, a counterpart sitting in the far windowsill as well.

And their leader, a beautiful eladrin girl, sitting fully on Thief’s chest. “Good morning,” the eldest of The Hags said.

“Hello,” said Thief, shifting to a more sexy pose. The Hag returned to her normal form. To his credit, Thief did nothing. For this reason, she gave him the warning.

“They’ve given you the wrong date,” she tells him.

A blog for your campaign

One week of the year, each plane empties. Gods stride the earth as ancient evils erupt from hell and demons fly forth from the Elemental Chaos, their powers weakened and not working as normal during this most strange time.

Why does this happen? An ancient magic, not understood even by the gods themselves, passes through each plane, cleansing it and disrupting powers. What would happen if this were to end? No one truly knows, and no one is willing to take the risk.

Avandra’s Grove

Yitcech finds Avandra on the Prime Plane, sulking. She explains that she has been looking for a group to be her team during Calibration. “You see,” she explains, “there is a city called Gem which is the site of the evacuation for the Nine Hells. Each year, the devils come forth and take over, using Gem’s arena as their own personal ground for blood sports. I need someone to give them a sound thrashing!”

Yitcech is reminded of the group that, at the behest of the gods, stormed into the icy caverns of the Elemental Chaos with him not so long ago, and says, “I may know some people…”

Then, In Gem…

Calibration is a time to party. What can normal folk do when their ancestors, demons, devils, and fey descend upon them?

Most of the folk of Gem head west to create a carnival town, leaving Gem free for the taking by the devils.

Trius sits on the roof of the Canary Palace, the local temple to Bahamut, smoking and moping. Dorethau, more interested in the… local color… finds that a cambian of her acquaintance/rival, il Faban, is also in town. Lorne, Yitcech, and Thief prepare for the fight.

The first bouts go easily, but when another Fallen angel, Quoriel, faces off against Trius, things get bloody and worrisome. The team eventually reigns supreme, but when they turn to receive their adulation from Avandra, she is missing! Has her luck turned from the primitive magics afoot? Have the devils abducted this well-loved goddess?

Into the Breach

The group chases the devils into the outermost paths of the Nine Hells, narrowly avoiding the crackling wall of energy that signify certain death. Jumping across the cavern full of eddys of lava, they chase the devil carrying Avandra down while slaying his men handedly. As soon as their patron is free, they flee back to the Prime Plane to garner the prizes from the championship as well as the thanks of the Goddess of Luck. These include the Ring of Telos, Quoriel’s former sword, the Holy Avenger, and a boon of Avandra.

As things wind down, they realize that this has been refreshing, working with a team. Perhaps they should do it more often!

And then Thief receives his invitation to the annual meeting of the Fae Courts…
